The Akbar Nama

So famous are the water of Kokernag spring that people from all over the Indian subcontinent came to visit this area for treatment through its water and solitude. The waters are supposed to have almost magical medicinal properties, curing indigestion, stomach ulcers and even aiding with nervous system improvement, and mental function.

The Kokernag spring was famously referred to in the Ain-i-Akbari, the third volume of the 16th century document AKBAR NAMA written by the Emperor Akbars vizier Abu’l Fazl ibn Mubarak. Hailed as a beneficent gift of nature, the sweet water of Bringi Kokernag was said to satisfy thirst and hunger, and provide remedy for indigestion and stomach ulcers.
